My Approach

I believe therapy should be personalized, practical, and focused on helping clients feel more connected to themselves and others. My approach is collaborative and flexible, integrating evidence-based methods with creativity, cultural awareness, and emotional depth.

I work with individuals, couples, and families, and I adjust my approach based on where the person is in their process. Some clients need structure and skills. Others need space to explore and feel. Many benefit from a balance of both.

No matter the method, my priority is always the same: to help people feel safe, understood, and capable of growth.

Depending on each client’s needs, I draw from a variety of approaches and tools, including:

  • We will work together to identify patterns in how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. By exploring these patterns, we will find ways to shift unhelpful thinking, build healthier habits, and move toward the goals that matter to you. CBT is a structured, present-focused approach that can offer practical tools for lasting change.

  • We will work together to gradually face the thoughts, images, or situations that trigger fear or distress, while resisting the urge to engage in compulsive behaviors like checking, avoiding, or seeking reassurance. Over time, this process can help reduce anxiety, build confidence, and teach your brain that you can tolerate uncertainty without relying on old habits. ERP is the gold standard treatment for OCD and is backed by strong research.

  • We will work on managing intense emotions, navigating relationships, and creating more balance in your day-to-day life. Using a blend of cognitive behavioral tools, mindfulness practices, emotion regulation strategies, and communication skills, we will build a toolkit you can rely on when things feel overwhelming or disconnected. DBT offers structure while also honoring flexibility and self-compassion.

  • We will use body movement, dance, and nonverbal expression as tools to support emotional, cognitive, and physical healing. Since the mind and body are deeply connected, moving through emotion rather than just talking about it can help you process trauma, reduce stress, and express feelings that may be hard to put into words. This work can also build self-awareness and reconnect you to your body in meaningful and empowering ways.

  • We will use creative outlets like drawing, painting, music, writing, or other forms of art to explore emotions, process experiences, and express what may be hard to put into words. It will not be about artistic skill, but about using creativity as a tool for self discovery, emotional release, and healing.

  • We will combine present moment awareness with a deep respect for your unique cultural background, values, and lived experiences. Through mindfulness, we will practice noticing thoughts, emotions, and body sensations without judgment. At the same time, culturally sensitive care will ensure that our work honors your identity and worldview. Together, these approaches create a grounded, respectful, and personalized path toward healing.

  • We will explore the stress, transitions, or uncertainty you may be facing in your work, identity, or daily life. Together, we will clarify your goals, build confidence, manage burnout, and make intentional choices that align with your personal values and long term well-being.

  • We will focus on building a stronger sense of self, increasing self-worth, and exploring who you are beyond the expectations of others. Together, we will look at where self-doubt comes from, challenge the negative beliefs that may be holding you back, and develop a more compassionate and confident relationship with yourself.

  • We will create a space where your story can be held with care, curiosity, and compassion. Whether you are a young person or an adult, we will work to gently process painful experiences, understand how trauma may be showing up in your life today, and build tools to feel safer, more grounded, and more in control. Our work will move at your pace, with an emphasis on emotional safety, resilience, and restoring a sense of self.

  • We will look at how each member of the family influences and is influenced by the others, treating the family as an interconnected emotional unit. Rather than focusing on one person in isolation, we will work to improve communication, clarify roles and boundaries, and shift patterns that may be causing stress or conflict. Whether you are seeking support as a parent or as a family, this approach helps create healthier, more connected relationships at home.
